Crossing the Ocean for a Tasting

This week, I had the pleasure of welcoming a couple from the United States to Palermo. Passionate about wine, they were also eager to discover the soul of Sicily through its glasses. Their attention to detail and desire to understand the land made the masterclass an intensely rewarding experience.

We focused mainly on Sicilian wines, complemented by a few international labels carefully selected to highlight differences in style and character. Watching their reactions, listening to their comments, and hearing their spontaneous comparisons made it clear how a private tasting can become both a sensory and cultural dialogue.

At the end of the tasting, they confided that it felt less like a lesson and more like a revealing experience.
For us sommeliers, moments like these reaffirm that the value of a masterclass lies not only in the wine itself, but in the encounter between people and different territories.
