The Silence Before the First Glass

Behind every masterclass lies a balance between silence and engagement: how glasses become instruments of dialogue and discovery.

BEHIND THE GLASS

There’s a moment I particularly love: when I prepare the room and align the glasses, when the bottles are at the perfect temperature and the morning light just grazes the table. Everything is still, almost suspended.
It’s a silence filled with anticipation and care, allowing you to truly feel the presence of the wine before anyone tastes it.

Then the guests arrive—a small group of friends, each with different experiences and tastes.
That silence dissolves into conversation, curiosity, and commentary. Hands reach for the glasses, aromas are released, and words begin to build connections between personal stories and scents. Every observation sparks discussion, every sip becomes a moment of shared discovery.

What fascinates me is the passage between these two dimensions: the collected, almost sacred silence of preparation and the vibrant energy that takes shape as soon as the participants engage.
It is in this balance that a tasting gains depth: the glasses speak, people listen, respond, and smile. And it’s there that I realize the value of the experience lies not only in the wine itself, but in the magic surrounding it.
